Marcel Porée, as he was known, was the son of Félix Henri Porée, a lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Paris, and Louise Pauline Eugénie Porée (née Joseph-Dijon). Marcel was a member of the lawn tennis committee at the Racing Club de France in Paris and had at least one lawn tennis-playing sibling, Jean. An insurance broker in the maritime industry, Marcel Porée was killed in a car accident in August 1921 at the age of 42. In his memory, the men’s singles and women’s singles events at the autumn lawn tennis tournament of the Racing Club de France were renamed the Coupe Porée (Porée Cup) in 1922.
