Played rugby union for several French clubs; at one point also captain of the French rugby union team. Captain of the French Davis Cup team in 1922 and 1923.

Head of an American Red Cross Unit before World War II. Jewish. Later captured by the Germans and deported to the Neuengamme concentration camp where he was murdered.
