Argentine by birth and christened Mauricio, he later acquired German citizenship and took part in the hockey event in the 1908 Summer Olympics under the German flag, as did his brother Raulino, who was also a lawn tennis player. Maurice Galvão married the lawn tennis champion Magdalene (Mieken) Rieck in Hamburg in June 1916. He was the manager of a shipping company and appears to have died as a consequence of World War Two.
