A lawyer by profession, Charles Barde was at one point President of the Court of Justice in his native city of Geneva. He was also one of the founding members, and later several times president, of the International Lawn Tennis Federation (I.L.T.F.). The organisation in question is now known as the International Tennis Federation (I.T.F.). Charles Barde was also a member of the Swiss hockey team during the first European Hockey Championships, which were held in 1910.
