Lewis White (1904-1981), born in Round Rock, Texas, won the UIL singles title while at Austin High School. He was nationally ranked No. 2 as a junior and went on to play at the University of Texas (1921-1924). While at UT, he won the Southwest Conference singles title in 1922 and 1924. White won the National Intercollegiate doubles title in 1923 and 1924. He played on the U.S. Davis Cup team in 1925 and was selected for the first All-American tennis team. White was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation in men’s singles.
