A stockbroker by profession, Charles Wallis was the brother of two other lawn tennis players, Phyllis Wallis and Hilda Wallis. The latter player was Ireland’s most successful female lawn tennis player during the two world wars. They were the children of Charles Wallis, senior, a railway agent, and Isabella Margaret Wallis (née Shearer).
