Bordeaux, Gironde, France
Popularly known as Jean Montariol, this player was born in Bordeaux in 1888. He was the youngest of the three children of Jean Bernard Marcel Montariol (1852-1920), a lawyer and auctioneer, and Geneviève Marie Montariol (née Gombert-Cournet).
In the years leading up to World War One the lawn tennis player Jean Montariol regularly took part in the annual tournament held at the Société Athlétique de la Villa Primrose club in his native Bordeaux. When the French National Championships tournament was held at this club in 1909, Jean Montariol was runner-up in the men’s doubles event with Daniel Lawton, another local player.
It is difficult to find information in genealogical records on the later life of the lawn tennis player Jean Montariol.
