Son of Robert N. Watt, snr., and brother of Laird Watt, both of whom were also tennis players. Robert N. Watt, jnr., served with the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps during World War Two, eventually rising to the rank of corporal. He was killed in action in the Netherlands shortly before the end of hostilities.
