About

Ernest Parton attended Rugby School before going up to Cambridge University and then transferring to Oxford University, where he studied law and obtained his degree. He later practised as a solicitor.

In 1906, Parton married fellow lawn tennis player Mabel Bramwell Squire; together they had one child, a son named Richard (b. 1909). They later divorced and she married, secondly, Theodore Mavrogordato, another lawn tennis player. One of Ernest Parton’s siblings, Nina Jessie Parton, also married another lawn tennis player, Edward Key Harvey, in 1903.

Served in the Great War, 1914-19 (Captain, London Regiment and General Staff (Draft Conducting Officer).
