Frans De Bruyn Kops was the brother of two other lawn tennis players: Johan De Bruyn Kops and Willem De Bruyn Kops. In addition to playing lawn tennis, Frans was also a football player; in this respect he competed for the Netherlands at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, where the Dutch teams won the bronze medal. In 1917, Frans de Bruyn Kops married his compatriot Adé van Vliet who was also a lawn tennis player.
