An industrialist by profession, Émile Eloy was the second of the five children of another Émile Eloy and Gabrielle Eloy (née Breuvart). Through his maternal aunt Louise (Breuvart) Tiberghien, Émile Eloy was the cousin of fellow lawn tennis player Patrick Tiberghien, and through his maternal uncle, Alfred Breuvart, Émile was the first cousin of another lawn tennis player, Freddy Breuvart.
