Funeral Of Barrister

The funeral took place at Northern Suburbs Cemetery yesterday of Mr Robert Matthew Kidston, one of Sydney’s oldest barristers. Mr Kidston died suddenly on Wednesday at his home in Wolseley Road, Mosman. He was 84.

Mr Kidston was a prosecuting officer of the Crown Solicitor’s office for about six years. He resigned in 1924 to be admitted to the Bar. He was a noted writer on tennis, and, for some years, was one of the best tennis players in New South Wales. He was a contemporary of such players as Sir Norman Brookes and Horace Rice.

Mr Kidston is survived by Mrs Kidston [née Olive Owen Pretorius] and three married daughters. A nephew, Mr Roderick R. Kidston, is a Crown Prosecutor at the Darlinghurst criminal courts.
