DEATH CLAIMS PASTOR.
Rev. H. W. Burress* of Gaithersburg, Md., Passes Away.
GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 27, 1909.
Rev. Harry W. Burress, pastor of Grace Methodist Church South, died at the parsonage here early this morning. After his return to this charge for a third year from the recent annual conference held in Baltimore.
Mr. Burress entered enthusiastically into pastoral visitation among his parishioners. He was stricken by illness about ten days ago, which rapidly developed into pneumonia. Since last Wednesday but little hope for his recovery was entertained.
Mr. Burress was about thirty-five years of age. His wife and four children, the youngest an infant daughter, survive him.
Mr. Burress came to Gaithersburg from the charge at Aberdeen, Md., and had previously been junior pastor of Rockville circuit, this county.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but the services will probably be directed by Rev. Dr. Forest J. Prettyman, presiding elder of the Washington district.
Shortly after his death, Rev. Burruss' widow wrote a comprehensive biography (which is available online) entitled:
