Bob Curtis (1920-2007) was an exceptional tennis player throughout his life. He won the Texas UIL boys’ singles title in 1936, 1937 and 1938. He continued on to Rice Institute where he won three Southwest Conference titles in doubles. He also won the NCAA national doubles title in 1947 playing with his friend Sammy Match. In addition to the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame, Curtis is also a Rice Institute Hall of Fame inductee.
Mr. Curtis was a WWII Navy veteran serving as an Ensign in the Pacific. His career was spent working in the oil
and gas industry and later as a nursing home administrator until retirement.
