About

As a player, Jean-Paul Loth took part in the first round of the French Open in doubles with Georges Deniau in 1970. In 1974, he lost in the last round of the singles qualifications against Thierry Bernasconi.

From 1978, he commented on tennis matches on television, on TF1 with Hervé Duthu, then on France Télévisions with Daniel Cazal (1988 to 1991) and Michel Drhey (1991 to 2004) He marked generations of tennis fans with his instantly recognizable voice. During the 2007 Australian Open, he was invited to comment on a match on Eurosport with Duthu, of which it was the last tournament.

He worked within the French Tennis Federation as junior coach in 1968, national technical director from 1977 to 1989 and captain of the French Davis Cup team from 1980 to 1987 at the time of Noah and Leconte . As a DTN, he contributed to the creation of the National Training Center at Roland-Garros.

In 2005, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the presidency of the FFT together with Patrick Proisy with the support of Yannick Noah, the president being elected by the regional delegates chosen by his opponent, Christian Bîmes. The latter also opposed the return of Jean-Paul Loth to the microphone of France Television in 2007.

Between March and July 2012, he appeared every week in Radio Tennis Play alongside Christophe Thoreau and Julien Pichené, a weekly program devoted to tennis news and broadcast in particular on L'Equipe.fr.

Since 2013, he regularly intervenes as a consultant on Eurosport where he analyzes the matches of Roland Garros, the Australian Open and the US Open.
