Studied law at Dublin University; later practised as a barrister. Member of cricket XI and rackets champion as well as lawn tennis player during student days. Later played in international cricket match for Ireland. Runner-up to Vere Goold in final of men?s singles event at historic inaugural Irish Lawn Tennis Championships, held in Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, in early June 1879. According to the 1911 Census of Ireland, Charles David Barry was actually living in Fitzwilliam Square when the census was taken.
