Andrew Yates-Bell is the brother of fellow tennis player Caroline Yates-Bell. They are the two children of Dr John Geoffrey Yates-Bell (1902-91) and Winifred Yates-Bell (née Perryman). After attending Radley College in Radley, Oxfordshire, Andrew Yates-Bell went up to Cambridge University where, like his father before him, he studied medicine. Andrew also became a urologist.
