He came to live temporarily in London in 1928 and was attending lectures at London University while participating in major tennis tournaments. Otha quickly learned to play comfortably on grass courts and set a record of seven victories in tournaments that took place throughout England in the late summer of 1928. He won another six tournaments in 1929.
