Laurie Cannon was the brother of fellow tennis players Gregory, Harry, James and Peter Cannon. They were five of the eleven children born to Patrick Kieran (‘Pat’) Cannon and Mary Françoise Cannon (née Sicard). The tennis players’ paternal grandparents, William Cannon and Margaret Cannon (née Egan), both emigrated to Australia from County Offaly, Ireland, and married each other in Melbourne in July 1852. The tennis players’ maternal grandfather, Henri Sicard, was a native of Tours, France.
