About

Joe Abrahamson was a standout tennis player for the Red Raiders. He was a three-year letterwinner who posted a career mark of 47-5 at the second singles position. In his senior year, he had an undefeated 17-0 mark, and made the finals of the 1958 Eastern Intercollegiate Doubles Championship. He co-held the Colgate career record for most consecutive singles matches won with 21. He later held the men’s coaching duties for 27 years posting an impressive 366-140-2 record, and his teams never had a losing season. Under his tutelage, the Colgate women had 18 winning campaigns, captured seven New York State championships, and made one NCAA Tournament appearance in 1981.
