About

A Southern California builder who was an amateur tennis champion and organizer of youth activities. He was born in Los Angeles and attended Stanford University, where he and his partner won the national intercollegiate doubles championship in 1928. Herrington was inducted into the Stanford Hall of Fame in 1964. He helped organize the Southern California Tennis Association, the Crescent Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Brentwood Youth House in West Los Angeles. His son, John, was U.S. Secretary of Energy during the Reagan Administration.
