Philippe Morel-Deville was an engineer specialising in the area of aeronautical construction; he was also an administrator in the family company Deville & Co. The Morel in his family name comes from his father, André Morel, while the Deville comes from his mother, who was born Isabelle Deville. In 1926, Philippe Morel-Deville married fellow tennis player Élisabeth (‘Henriette’) Joba. She was the sister of another tennis player, Pierre Joba.
