An Englishman by birth, Geoffrey Wanstall was educated at Rugby School in Warwickshire. During World War One, he served in the British Army in England and France, reaching the rank of captain. He later emigrated to North America, initially to the USA, then to Canada, where he became a member of staff at Selwyn House School, a private, independent boys’ school located in Westmount on the island of Montreal. He was initially a teacher at this school, but later became its headmaster and remained in this position until his untimely death from influenza in 1945.
