Walter A. Kinsella was a squash and real tennis player from the beginning of the 20th century.[2][3] He was a world squash champion from 1914 to 1926[4] In real tennis, Kinsella lost three challenges for the world championship, to Fred Covey in 1922 and 1923, and to the great Pierre Etchebaster in 1930 at Prince's Club.
MIDDLETOWN, N. J., Jan. 31—Walter A. Kinsella, a tennis professional, died yesterday in Riverview Hospital, Red Bank. He was 85 years old and lived at 16 Hamiltonian Drive.
Mr. Kinsella had operated the Holmdel Tennis Club. Earlier, he had spent 11 years at the Seabrieht Lawn, Tennis and Cricket Club. He held the title of world squash tennis champion for 11 years and retired undefeated.
He leaves his wife, the former Marguerite Oxley: a daughter, Mrs. John Hackett, and two grandsons.
