Charles F. Salmond was the brother of fellow lawn tennis player Edwin L. Salmond. They were the uncles of another player, Kenneth G. Salmond. A university lecturer by profession, Charles Salmond’s subject areas included philosophy, psychology and the classics. In later life he held the Chair of Philosophy for several years at Canterbury College, New Zealand.
