Paschal Walthall (1915-1992) started playing tennis at the age of 15. His senior year he won the state high school singles championship and the state junior championship. Dr. Daniel A. Penick invited him to attend the University of Texas on a partial scholarship. While at UT he served as ranking chairman of the Texas Tennis Association. In 1946 he was part of a group of San Antonio players that formed the San Antonio Tennis Educational Foundation (SATEF). Walthall wrote the first constitution and bylaws and served as president of the organization.
