Arthur Tuckey was the brother of fellow lawn tennis player Charles Orpen Tuckey. They were two of the children of Davys Tuckey, who was Irish and a barrister-at-law, and his first wife, Ellen Elizabeth Tuckey (née Orpen). Arthur Tuckey spent several years working in the civil service in British India. According to the Register of Employees of the East India Company and the India Office of 1911, Arthur Tuckey was an Assistant Magistrate and Collector in Bengal.
